All questions regarding Tax Bills should be directed to the Tax Collector's Department
The Assessor's Office is responsible for the equitable distribution of the local property tax burden by compiling and maintaining a list of all taxable properties in the Borough and assigning values to each. Maintenance activities include:
• Assessing new construction, additions, renovations, etc.
• Listing subdivisions
• Recording new property owners
• Reflecting value changes due to demolitions, fires, etc.

Property Tax Relief Programs
The State of New Jersey offers several programs for tax relief. You may be eligible for one or more of these:
- $250 Deduction for Senior Citizens or Disabled Persons
- $250 Deduction for Veterans
- 100% Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption

Tax Appeals
Taxpayers who disagree with their property’s assessment have the right to appeal to the Bergen County Board of Taxation on or before April 1 or 45 days from the date the Assessment Notifications are mailed by the taxing district, whichever is later. In a revel/reassessment district, on or before May 1 of the current tax year.
If the property is assessed for more than $1,000,000 the taxpayer can appeal directly to the N.J. State Tax Court. If you are dissatisfied with the judgment of the Bergen County Board of Taxation, you may file an appeal with the N.J. State Tax Court within 45 days from the date of the final judgment.
