FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

Posted October 10, 2025

Dear Residents,

The Borough has issued an important notice regarding Halloween this year. While there will be no Borough-sponsored event on Friday, October 31st, the letter provides helpful information about voluntary participation, safety considerations, and the possibility of temporary street closures if needed.

We encourage all residents to read the full notice and plan accordingly.

For any questions, please contact the Police Department's non-emergency line at (201) 569-8300.

A Bold Step Forward: What the LG CNS MOU Means for Englewood Cliffs

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

Dear Residents,

On July 29, 2025, Englewood Cliffs took a historic step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LG CNS at their U.S. headquarters right here in the Borough. This non-binding, exploratory public-private partnership is a visionary move that positions our Borough to become a model of innovation for the entire State of New Jersey by creating potential synergies, helping to shape a more connected, future-ready community with a leading private-sector giant.

To be clear, this is not a contract, not an approval of any project, and not a financial commitment. No technology has been installed, no data will be collected, and no decisions have been made. The MOU simply gives us the opportunity to explore forward-looking ideas like smart infrastructure, cybersecurity enhancements, and student internship programs with one of the world’s top tech innovators.

This initiative reflects our commitment to thoughtful progress by modernizing public services while safeguarding privacy and ensuring full public transparency. The agreement includes strong legal protections that prohibit LG CNS from accessing or sharing resident data, conducting direct outreach to residents, or using information for marketing purposes. These protections are hardwired into the MOU.

Here’s what we stand to gain from this collaboration:

  • STEM education and internships that prepare our youth for the careers of tomorrow
  • Smart, sustainable infrastructure solutions to improve traffic flow, public lighting, and energy efficiency
  • Expanded access to grant funding and future-ready partnerships that minimize local taxpayer impact
  • A modernized, secure approach to local governance all without sacrificing community control

Englewood Cliffs is moving forward with purpose, integrity, and transparency. Every step will be deliberate and inclusive, with public input and council oversight central to the process, because together we're building something bigger than ourselves.

We welcome your engagement and look forward to shaping this exciting future together. The best is yet to come!

Below you will find attached copies of both the signed MOU with LG CNS along with a copy of the signed Resolution No. 2025-122 adopted at our June 19, 2025 Council Meeting that authorizes the execution of said MOU with LG CNS which can also be accessed on our website.

Sincerely,

Intashan Chowdhury, MPA
Business Administrator
